The collaboration of the four artists Deborah Manavi, Christa Stöffelbauer, Anna Göbel and Victoria Koberstein has resulted in the experimental dance short film transcendere, which will be shown for the first time at the 38th Kassel Dokfest. Following the premiere, there will be an opportunity for exchange with the artists in a discussion.
Synopsis
In the darkness, in a seemingly airless space, a woman dances. An inner struggle breaks out. Her movements are driven by memories that echo through her body. She struggles to free herself and her body from ancient imposed judgments. She dances to be herself. The film transcendere is made from a feminist perspective. The protagonist experiences a conflict between social expectations of the female body and "being a woman" and the individual pursuit of freedom.
